meet the staff / dr. huaxiang yang, research chemist

George KoustisDr. Huaxiang Yang obtained his Ph.D. in Chemistry specializing in Polymer Chemistry and Physics at Zhejiang University, China. He has authored 20 international journal publications, four patents, and five international conference presentations. As a postdoctoral research fellow, Huaxiang had five years of scientific research prior to joining Crosslink. His professional research areas include conductive polymers, emulsion/miniemulsion polymerization, nanoencapsulation, coatings, polyolefins, organometallic catalysts, cosmetics and natural macromolecules.

At Crosslink, Huaxiang has several areas of emphasis including synthesis and characterization of conductive polymers, composite fabrication and characterization, strain/stress and damage sensor fabrication and evaluation as well as some printing techniques (screen printing, spray printing, spin coating, etc.) Currently, he is working on Compliant and Wireless Health Monitoring Sensors with Integrated Self-Healing for Composite Structures Using Highly Conductive Polymers, which is being funded by the Air Force.

Huaxiang was accepted as a full member of the international honor society for scientific and engineering research, Sigma XI, and as a member of the American Chemical Society (ACS) in 2007. He is also a member of the American Society of Mechanical Engineering (ASME).
