Crosslink™ Appoints Dr. Ramil Mercado as Chief Technology Officer

ST. LOUIS—(October 4, 2011) - Crosslink™, a leading developer of electrochemistry- and polymer science-based technologies, announces the appointment of Dr. Ramil Marcelo L. Mercado to the position of chief technology officer. In his new role as CTO, Mercado will lead the company's research and development efforts, including those in performance coatings, reactive detoxification materials, energy storage, sensor and controlled drug release technologies.

"Dr. Mercado has more than a decade of experience in product research and development of applied polymer science, as well as a broad scientific background in analytical, inorganic and polymer chemistry," said Gary Krall, Crosslink CEO. "With a notable understanding of how to apply chemical science to real and significant industry challenges, he brings an ideal mix of scientific knowledge and product development experience to the table. We look forward to his leadership and application of these skills as we advance several of our technologies into commercialization."

Prior to his appointment as CTO, Mercado served as project coordinator at Crosslink, overseeing two major projects - a self-detoxifying polymer system for chemical and biological warfare agents, and a system for the controlled release of therapeutic agents for trauma-induced wounds and burns - at the company's Jordan Valley Innovation Center in Springfield, Mo. Mercado formerly held positions at Delphi Research Labs and Brewer Science, where he participated in a variety of applied polymer science research and development projects.

A graduate of the University of the Philippines at Los Baños with a B.S. in chemistry and the University of Massachusetts with a PhD in chemistry, Mercado has authored more than 20 publications and holds five patents. He is a member of the American Association for the Advancement of Science and the American Chemical Society, and resides in Rolla, Mo.
